COLOMBIA'S ROOTS

Back in the 1980s and 90s, Colombia was going through one of the darkest times in its history. The country was caught in the middle of a brutal internal conflict that affected millions of families. Violence, drug cartels, and instability gave Colombia a reputation that kept most travelers far away. It was far from being seen as a vacation destination. But times have changed. Since the death of Pablo Escobar in 1993, Colombia has made huge strides. It’s now one of the safest and most welcoming countries in Latin America and is quickly becoming a favorite spot for travelers looking for something real, raw, and unforgettable

GEOGRAPHY

The heart of Colombia is shaped by the three branches of the Andes mountains. This landscape is perfect for motorcycle travel. Paved mountain roads twist and wind through valleys and peaks, while the dirt tracks take you deep into areas most people never get to see. The views are endless, and every corner brings something new. What makes it even more special is the sheer variety of terrain you pass through—cloud forests, high-altitude páramos, rolling green coffee farms, dry canyons, and dense jungle all exist within a few hours of each other. Colombia is home to one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet, second only to Brazil in biodiversity.

Riding here means you're not just covering distance—you’re moving through entirely different worlds in a single day. Outside the big cities, traffic is light and the roads are in surprisingly good shape. And when things do get backed up, being on a motorcycle means you can just slip past it all and keep riding.

THE PEOPLE
+ MORE

One of the best parts of traveling through Colombia is the people. Colombians are some of the friendliest you’ll meet anywhere. No matter where you go, you’ll find locals who are proud of their culture and excited to share it. Whether it’s a small town in the mountains or a roadside food stop in the middle of nowhere, there’s always a good meal, a warm smile, and a story waiting for you.

If you’re looking for a motorcycle adventure that goes beyond the usual tourist route, Colombia is hard to beat. It offers stunning landscapes, rich culture, and a level of freedom that’s getting harder to find in other places. For many riders, one trip here just isn’t enough.

The only real risk is falling in love with the place and not wanting to leave.
